Behind the Scenes
In some ways, the process is as interesting as the end result. My current interest in sculpture began with a desire to learn how to weld. I couldn't find any nearby classes for people who wanted to learn welding for artistic purposes (I have no interest in helping build the Bay Bridge) so I decided to sign up for a mixed-media sculpture class. This has given me the opportunity to explore a wide variety of media and find that I really like some things (wood and metal) and really dislike others (clay).
Here are a few "behind the scenes" pictures from the creation of the bronze relief casting on this site:
Special thanks go out to Lynne Todaro and Dave Kempken at Mission College for their instruction and assistance. Much thanks goes out to my wife, Maia, for her inspiration, support and advice as we explore sculpture together!
